Uber teamed up with BYD and Nissan to push electric cars in London

Uber has been advocating environmentally friendly travel, reducing urban congestion and emissions by sharing cars. Recently, the company has launched a new environmental protection initiative, jointly with BYD and Nissan to provide pure electric vehicles to Uber drivers in the UK.
Uber said that the company will lease 50 Nissan Leaf and BYD E6s to Uber drivers at the "very favorable price" by the end of September.
Uber is working with a UK company focused on promoting energy efficiency, energy efficiency and sustainable energy use, The Energy Saving Trust, to see if its electric car rental program is viable in the next three months.
As the first pilot city, London received 50 electric vehicles. If the plan is feasible, there will be hundreds of Uber electric vehicles operating in London next year, and the project will be promoted to other cities in the UK.
Uber UK regional general manager Jo Bertram said in a statement that Uber "resolved" to help London and other parts of the UK deal with air pollution. Bertram also claims that Uber's car sharing service has saved 1.3 million miles (about 2.09 million kilometers) of mileage, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 231 tons.
In recent years, Uber has promoted the development of environmental protection in the UK. At present, Uber's 60% service in London is provided by hybrid vehicles such as Toyota Prius.
Bertram said: "The Londoners have already linked Uber to the hybrid car, but from today on, we will go one step further and launch a pure electric car."
