Tire technical standard formulation timetable

On July 20th, the 2014 tire analysis seminar organized by the National Tire Quality Inspection Center came to a close. The reporter learned from the seminar that the National Tire Rim Standardization Technical Committee (National Commission for the Standardization of Wheels) has set a timetable for the development of tire-related technical standards.

According to the relevant person in charge of the National Wheel Labeling Commission, starting from the second half of 2014, the RSC will begin to formulate a draft test for tire snow, slippery and noise, and accumulate data; at the end of 2015, tire wetness and noise limits will be completed. The standard approval report will be issued; in 2016, the application of mandatory standards for tire rolling resistance, slippage, and noise limits will begin.

With regard to the grading standards for tire rolling resistance, slippery, and noise, the RSB will start tire rolling resistance test from March 2015 and accumulate data. At the same time, extensive wet slip and noise tests will be conducted to accumulate more test data. Selected representative tire specifications were sent to foreign countries for testing and comparative analysis of data. It is expected that the drafting of the grading standard will be completed in the first half of 2016; in the second half of 2016, the draft for scrutiny, draft review and approval will be completed.

At present, China's technical standard for automobile tires is only the rolling resistance limit standard (GB/T29042-2012). TireWorld.com reported that in the first half of this year, the state established the China Automotive Tire Laboratory Testing Network and determined that seven automotive tires have rolling resistance tests compared to the laboratory.

As early as 2011 National People's Congress, Ding Yuhua, chairman of the Triangle Group, submitted the "Proposal on Strengthening the Construction of Tire Industry Technical Regulations and Standards." The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine had responded to the proposal in June of that year: “In the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the National Standards Committee will intensify the reform of the tire industry standards. At the same time, the CNCA is actively organizing experts to conduct research and strive for the earliest possible time. Formulate mandatory certification regulations that are more appropriate to the current status of the tire product industry."
