The Richmond FPD station was designed in an 'L-shape' with the apparatus bays around the back of the building. Larry Shapiro photo The department is led by a full-time chief and consists of 40 part-time firefighters who respond to a wide range of emergencies. Their fleet includes two engines, a ladder truck, a tanker, two ambulances, a brush unit, two AWD ATVs, and a pickup truck that serves as both a chase vehicle for medical calls and a take-home unit for the night shift commanders. In addition, they proudly maintain two vintage fire engines that add a touch of history to their operations. Several years ago, the department acquired a 1984 E-ONE 110-foot rear-mount aerial from Franklin Park. This early custom-built unit featured a square cab and was later upgraded with new emergency lighting, a white roof, and other enhancements before being put into service. It has since become a key part of the department’s response capabilities. One of Richmond's pumper trucks, built in 1999 by US Tank, features an enclosed top-mount pump panel. A twin unit is stationed in the neighboring community of Spring Grove, and both are equipped with HME 1871 Super Command cabs. These modern designs help ensure efficient and effective firefighting operations across the district. 30000 Liters Oil Tank Truck,Aluminum Alloy Fuel Tank Trucks,Sinotruk HOWO 25 Ton Aluminum Alloy Fuel Tank Trucks Hubei Chenglongwei Special Purpose Vehicle Co., Ltd. , https://www.clw-automobile.comLocated along the Illinois/Wisconsin border in McHenry County is the small but well-equipped town of Richmond and the Richmond Fire Protection District. The district operates out of Division 5 and covers approximately 28 square miles from a single fire station that houses an impressive array of equipment. What makes the Richmond fire station stand out is its unique layout — all of the apparatus bays are located at the rear of the 'L-shaped' building.
