Sinopec ethylene cracker technology leading international

On October 11, "Tianjin/Zhenhai million tons of ethylene complete sets of technology" passed the appraisal organized by the Science and Technology Development Department of the joint-stock company. This indicates that the technological development of Sinopec's complete ethylene plant has taken a new step and zero breakthrough has been achieved in the localization of large-scale ethylene plant engineering design.


In the 1 million-ton/year ethylene plant with the distillate as the main raw material, the cracking furnace adopts the localized CBL cracking technology for the first time, and develops, designs, and builds the first 150,000-ton/year double furnace cracking furnace and realizes it. The furnace was burned. The operating results show that the cracking furnace technology and large-scale engineering design have reached the international advanced level. In the 1 million-ton ethylene recovery process package developed in cooperation with foreign companies, a number of unit technologies developed by Sinopec with independent intellectual property rights have been integrated.


The project carried out collaborative research on the engineering problems after the large-scale ethylene plant, solved the engineering design problems in the equipment, control systems, piping, etc. of towers, compressors, cold boxes, high-efficiency heat exchangers, and optimized the system. It independently completed the basic design and detailed design of two 1 million-ton/year ethylene plants in Tianjin and Zhenhai. The results of the operation show that the engineering design is reliable and the equipment selection is reasonable, reaching the international advanced level. The key equipment for the one-million-ton ethylene plant—the design and manufacture of ultra-long linear quench boilers, low-nitrogen oxide bottom burners, cracked gas compressors, propylene refrigeration compressors, and cold boxes—has achieved major breakthroughs.


The results of two sets of ethylene running for more than one year showed that ethylene production capacity and energy consumption, ethylene propylene yield, thermal efficiency, operation cycle of cracking furnace, ethylene recovery rate of ethylene separation system, and hydrogen recovery rate were all better than Targets, major technical and economic indicators have reached the leading level of similar international devices, with significant economic and social benefits.
