Still & Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-12-19

The Chicago Still & Box Alarm incident began when the 19th Battalion arrived on scene just after 10 a.m. on January 12th. The photos shared here were captured approximately 40 minutes into the response. Firefighters worked through a steady snowfall, demonstrating remarkable perseverance in challenging conditions. After initial interior operations, crews transitioned to a defensive strategy. Initially, Truck 20 was positioned in front of the building, but it was repositioned to allow Tower Ladder 39 to enter and tackle the remaining fire in the cockloft.
