I just got this update from Andy Russell about an incident involving the Peotone Squad 14. It happened over the weekend while they were responding to an accident on I-57. Unfortunately, their vehicle took a direct hit on the officer’s side rear corner. Now, the squad is sidelined for a few weeks as they get the necessary repairs done. This is such a stark reminder for all of us to pay attention when we see emergency or maintenance vehicles on the road—slow down and move over if it's safe to do so. It’s also a crucial lesson for first responders to always prioritize their safety when setting up their work zones.
