Coatings and Linings

**Coatings and Linings** When it comes to large-bore piping, durability and protection are paramount, especially when these structures endure harsh conditions over their long service lives. Reliable coatings that safeguard against corrosion and physical wear are critical in ensuring longevity. At [Your Company Name], we design and apply coatings and linings tailored to meet specific customer needs or industry standards. Our offerings include: - **Polyethylene Coating**: Ideal for general corrosion protection. - **Polypropylene Coating**: Offers enhanced resistance at higher temperatures. - **Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE)**: Known for excellent adhesion and chemical resistance. - **Epoxy Lining**: Specifically recommended for gas pipelines to improve flow efficiency. Prior to applying any coating or lining, our processes ensure thorough preparation. Pipes are cleaned, externally blasted to meet SA 2.5 standards, and preheated before application. Each type of coating is meticulously applied to ensure optimal performance and longevity. **Polyethylene (PE) Coating** The process begins with drying the pipes, followed by external shot blasting to achieve a clean surface. Induction heating brings the pipe temperature up to around 220°C. Next, an electrostatically applied epoxy (EP) primer is sprayed onto the surface, ranging from 60 to 255 microns thick. An adhesive foil, approximately 125 to 400 microns thick, is then wrapped around the epoxy layer. Finally, a PE foil is added as the outer layer. Pipe ends remain uncoated to allow for temporary corrosion protection during storage or assembly. For extended outdoor storage, the transition zone between the PE chamfer and the bare pipe can be treated with a bitumen coating. **Polypropylene (PP) Coating** For applications requiring greater resistance at elevated temperatures (above 80°C), a three-layer PP system is recommended. This system mirrors the structure of the PE coating but uses PP as the final layer for added durability. Similar to the PE coating, the pipe ends are left uncoated for temporary protection. Bitumen coating can also be applied to the transition area from the PP chamfer to the bare pipe end. **Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE)** FBE coatings are applied using an electrostatic process after the pipe surface has been sandblasted to SA 2.5 and preheated to 240°C. This ensures strong bonding and superior corrosion resistance, making FBE ideal for demanding environments. **Epoxy Lining** Our API RP 5L2 compliant epoxy resin linings are specifically designed for gas pipelines. These linings reduce internal surface roughness, thereby minimizing flow resistance and enhancing overall transmission efficiency. By smoothing the interior of the pipe, these linings contribute to more efficient operations while extending the service life of the pipeline. In addition to these standard offerings, we are always open to custom solutions based on unique project requirements. Whether you need a single type of coating or a combination of linings and coatings, our team is here to deliver the best possible solution to protect your assets.
