This morning, there was a fire on South Michigan Avenue, and I’ve got some updates for you. The incident took place near 113th Street and Michigan Avenue. When I arrived around 9:18 AM, the situation seemed to be under control. Battalion 22 and their team responded to a fire in the Roseland neighborhood. It was a two-story building, with dimensions of 25 by 50 feet. The commanding officer reported significant fire on the second floor and in the attic area. By the time I got there, the flames were already being managed effectively.
I want to give a shout-out to Dan Shevlin for sharing these details. His photos really capture the intensity of the situation. Here’s what they look like:

The firefighters were working tirelessly, both inside and outside the building. You can see them in action here:

There were moments where it looked like they had things under control, but every firefighting operation has its challenges. Take a look at these images that show the teamwork involved:

Even after the flames were out, there was still work to be done. Firefighters remained diligent, ensuring everything was secure.

The overall effort was immense, as you can see from the presence of multiple fire engines and equipment at the scene.

It’s always humbling to witness how quickly professionals can mobilize and handle emergencies like this one. A big thanks to everyone involved in managing the situation!
