SAIC Lithium plans to form 6,000 scales in 2012

On August 15, according to a reporter from the China Securities Journal, the largest automobile company in China, Shanghai Automotive, plans to officially complete and put into operation lithium-ion batteries in 2012, initially forming an annual output of 6,000 sets.

The lithium battery system that Shanghai Automotive plans to introduce next year is jointly developed with the United States 123 System Hong Kong Limited. At the end of 2009, Shanghai Automotive and A123 Systems Hong Kong Co., Ltd. established a joint venture vehicle power battery system company Shanghai Jiexin Power Battery System Co., Ltd. with a share capital of 51% to 49%, with a registered capital of US$9.5 million and a total investment of approximately US$20 million. .

A123 System Hong Kong Company is a subsidiary of A123 Systems Inc. of the United States. It is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of phosphate materials for lithium-ion batteries and supporting systems for nanomaterials.

Shanghai Jiexin locates and develops, manufactures and sells automotive power battery systems, and provides technical services and other after-sales services. In terms of battery system technology, we have successfully established engineering application development capabilities, power battery and module verification testing capabilities, and battery system integration capabilities.

On August 12th, General Motors announced in Detroit, USA that it had signed a cooperation agreement with A123 Systems, which will provide batteries and related equipment for GM electric cars sold in designated markets around the world.

This agreement includes advanced nanomaterial phosphate lithium ion batteries and highly integrated electronic components. Specific models and brands equipped with this battery will be announced in the future. Prior to this, General Motors and A123 Systems have signed an agreement to cooperate on the development of next-generation lithium-ion batteries and battery systems. The latest supplier agreement is based on existing cooperation.

Micky Bly, general manager of GM’s global electrical systems, automotive infotainment systems and electrification executives, said that General Motors is committed to providing a full range of electric vehicle products, each of which requires batteries of different specifications. We have been in contact with many battery development companies, and A123 has succeeded with its advanced nano-material phosphate lithium-ion battery technology and its ability to provide the ideal performance for electric cars in the future.

In addition, in the field of new energy vehicles, Shanghai Automotive's motor, power electronics has formed a vehicle application capabilities, motor design capabilities and motor control capabilities. According to Shanghai Automotive's new energy vehicle promotion strategic plan, Shanghai Automotive will launch pure electric vehicles at the end of 2012.
