A driver is essential for any stepper motor system. It receives signals from the controller and controls how the motor operates. The driver sends current through the various phases of the motor and regulates its torque and step resolution. As machines become more compact, finding space to install drivers can be a challenge.

CHALLENGE 1: Mount a Driver Vertically with Horizontal Connections
SOLUTION: Use a Right Angle Driver with Mounting Plate
This type of driver allows connectors to face outward, parallel to the circuit board. Mating connectors are available. A right angle driver with a mounting plate can also be used with a driver cover and DIN rail mounting bracket.

CHALLENGE 4: Mount a Driver Directly to a PCB
SOLUTION: Use S-Type Drivers
S-Type drivers are ideal for engineers who prefer custom designs. They can be mounted directly onto a printed circuit board (PCB) using either pin sockets or direct soldering. Both vertical and horizontal S-type drivers are available with I/O only or SPI bus communication.
