Evergreen Park Pirsch featured in ad

Firegeezer.com occasionally shares a special feature called “Looking Back,” where he highlights vintage advertisements from Fire Engineering Magazine. One such ad, from April 1957, showcases Peter Pirsch & Sons of Kenosha, Wisconsin. The ad includes a detailed illustration of a mid-ship quint from Evergreen Park, giving a glimpse into the firefighting equipment of that era. An article from 1981, written just a few years before the company closed its doors, offers an insightful look at the history and legacy of Pirsch. You can read it [here](#).

Evergreen Park Fire Department 1965 Pirsch mid-mount quint

Bill Friedrich shared this image of the unit as it was deployed in Evergreen Park, matching the department’s yellow firetrucks. This 1965 mid-ship quint was equipped with a 750-GPM pump, 250 gallons of water, and a 65-foot ladder. The truck, known as Truck 32, also featured a Federal Q siren and two 888 warning lights on the fenders, along with a roof beacon, making it a classic example of mid-20th-century fire apparatus.

Another photo from Bill Friedrich shows the same truck after it was repainted black over red by a local shop. The Federal Q siren had been relocated from the fender to the bumper, reflecting changes made over time to keep the vehicle up to date with evolving standards and aesthetics.

These images provide a fascinating look at how fire departments adapted their equipment through the decades, preserving both functionality and style.
