Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire & EMS Plan I at the John Hancock Building, 11-21-15

On Saturday afternoon, November 21, 2015, I was on site at the John Hancock Building located at 175 E. Delaware Place when an alarm fire broke out on the second floor. As part of the EMS Plan I response team, I had the opportunity to capture some vivid images of the situation as it unfolded. The fire was quite intense and spread rapidly, blowing out of the building in dramatic fashion. Here’s a glimpse into what I witnessed that day. In one of the photos, you can see Chicago firefighters standing outside after responding to the blaze. Their expressions reflect both focus and fatigue, indicative of the demanding nature of their work. Another shot captures the fire itself, flames bursting dramatically from the John Hancock Building. It's a powerful reminder of the challenges faced by first responders in high-rise emergencies. In another image, the scene inside the building’s lobby is captured, showing the command post established by the firefighters. This area bustled with activity as teams coordinated their efforts to bring the situation under control. The final photograph again highlights the firefighters, this time showing them working together to manage the aftermath of the fire. These moments were unforgettable, capturing not just the chaos but also the incredible teamwork and dedication exhibited by those who put themselves in harm's way to protect others. It was a humbling experience to witness such bravery firsthand, and these images serve as a testament to the resilience and professionalism of our city’s emergency services.
