China Drying Network News From September 17 to 21, at the 3rd International Conference on Chemicals Management in Nairobi, Kenya, the International Association of Chemical Industry Associations (ICCA) called on all stakeholders to take action and implement international Strategic Approach to Chemical Management (SAICM) to improve and strengthen the management of global chemicals.

“Today, the chemical industry is on the road to innovation, development, new products and new applications to solve global problems, so as to ensure a sustainable future for mankind and to ensure the safety of people and the environment.” ICCA Secretary President Carl Dooley, president of the American Chemical Industry Council, said that SAICM is a means to meet this goal by addressing the challenges facing humanity and improving the safety of global chemical production and use. Through voluntary actions in the chemical industry, such as the Global Responsible Care Charter and the Global Product Strategy (GPS), ICCA is ready to implement SAICM with all countries in the world.

SAICM was approved at the first International Chemicals Management Conference in February 2006. Since then, ICCA has organized a series of activities to support the implementation of SAICM, including the implementation of a global training program. Over the past four years, more than 40 related chemical events have been held. Workshops on Capacity Building in Product Management also organized training for small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries to understand how to implement global product strategies to strengthen chemical management; and to cooperate effectively with UNEP to jointly develop a global chemicals management system And to advance it in an orderly manner; to provide technical support to relevant associations and enterprises that have actively established chemical risk management procedures, so that they can be consistent with international standards in this regard, including the development of hazards for the purpose of fully evaluating the safety of commercial chemicals. And exposing information systems to create best practices; sharing information on commercial chemicals through the GPS Chemicals portal; and assisting with partners including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to provide technical support in response to chemical legacy issues. Humans are not affected by legacy pollution.

It is reported that the 3rd International Conference on Chemicals Management emphasized the importance of strengthening SAICM cooperation among governments, intergovernmental organizations, non-government agencies and industry. Participants shared relevant chemicals management capacity building activities in Africa, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe and other regions. Success story. Dooley said that the chemical industry's commitment to the Responsible Care Global Charter, global product strategy and capacity building activities, and cooperation with other stakeholders are expected to raise the level of global chemicals management.
