South Korea already has the fastest broadband in the world. Now the country is gradually becoming faster. SK Broadband, one of the nation's largest Internet service providers, announced last week that it plans to launch a 10 Gbit/s service. This speed to download HD quality movie probably only takes 7 seconds. The SK Broadband confirms its position as Korea’s broadband technology leader. According to reports, Koreans currently enjoy 24.6 megabits per second, which is more than twice the average connection speed of Americans. Earlier this year, the Korean government pledged funds to help establish a 5G wireless network in 2020, and Samsung has demonstrated that the technology is a 1 Gigabit per second wireless connection. The most well-known Gigabit Internet service in the United States comes from Google Fiber, but this is only used in three cities.
