Machinery industry recovery brings talent demand back

According to the latest data, the demand for talent in the fourth quarter of 2012 increased by 15% compared with the same period of last year. Among them, Guangdong ranks first, with a year-on-year increase of 31%; Shanghai's talent increases by 17% year-on-year; Beijing's talent increases by 18.8%. The number of high-end talents and skilled workers increased significantly compared with the same period of last year.

Increased demand for mechanical talent

However, the machinery manufacturing industry is still dominated by processing and assembly, and its product technology content is low. The development of high-end products mainly depends on gathering high-end talent. Wang Liming, executive vice chairman and secretary general of the China Machine Tool Industry Association, said that the country’s approval of urban rail transit, aviation, and corporate sector projects has increased. The market’s demand for high-end equipment will continue to grow. The rapid development of the machinery market has also led to an increase in market demand for high-end talent.

Data show that the top four in the fourth quarter of the talent needs list: mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical design engineers, mold engineers, respectively, an increase of 11.3%, 21%, 12.9%, 29%.

In the face of demand, the supply of talent market is less optimistic. The data shows that the supply of high-level mechanical talent is in short supply, and the vacant positions of enterprises are still difficult to recruit suitable talents. From this point of view, the highly qualified, highly experienced, and highly capable tertiary talents are still lacking in the Chinese talent market. Many companies are also training such talents. However, due to factors such as job content, location, and environment, enterprises cannot retain talents and become the main cause of brain drain.

Mechanical workers have broad employment prospects

At the same time, the demand for blue-collar workers in the machinery industry is also rising. Recently, according to relevant statistics, China’s railway construction projects have increased from the original 9 established at the beginning of the year to 22, and the total investment has completed 64.27 billion. In addition, the National Development and Reform Commission once again approved 8 power transmission and transformation projects, a total of 4.299 billion dynamic investment. The continuously increasing number of mechanical engineering projects has prompted the industry to increase the demand for mechanical infrastructure workers.

According to statistics, the demand for skilled workers such as electricians, millers, locksmiths, welders, spray painters, painters, etc., has increased by an average of 20% on a year-on-year basis.

According to experts in employment guidance, the technical blue-collar in the machinery industry is an important position in the industry. Because of the long training period and unstable personnel, the demand for skilled personnel by mechanical enterprises has been very strong. With the recovery of the machinery industry and improvement of the foreign trade business, the demand for skilled workers in the machinery industry will rise again, and the salaries will reach or even surpass those of white-collar workers. Their employment prospects are very broad.
