Tianhua Chemical Oil Tank Fiber Reinforced Graphite Flake Coating passed the appraisal
The recent technical appraisal conducted by China Petrochemical Corporation has confirmed the successful development of a new fiber-reinforced graphite flake coating for crude oil storage tanks by the Tianhua Chemical Machinery and Automation Research and Design Institute. This innovative coating system represents a significant advancement in protective technology for oil storage infrastructure.
The project focuses on creating a high-temperature corrosion-resistant resin matrix combined with a rubber compound, incorporating large-scale solid fillers that provide excellent electrostatic conductivity. Graphite flakes serve as the primary aggregate, offering superior bulk strength and outstanding wear resistance. The system also integrates short-cut fiber reinforcement, which enhances its ability to resist deformation, making it ideal for demanding industrial environments.
This solvent-free thick-film coating is designed as a functional system with specialized fillers, ensuring strong adhesion at the interface, minimal curing stress, and long-term static conductivity. It also exhibits excellent resistance to base body deformation and maintains stable construction performance throughout its service life.
A key innovation of the project is the introduction of vacuum-based preparation technology for the coating. The team developed specialized equipment for both base production and on-site construction, enabling the formation of large-diameter solid fillers within the resin material with significantly reduced bubble entrapment. This advancement not only improves the overall quality of the coating but also enhances its durability and reliability under harsh conditions.
