The country's largest LNG storage tank was built in Shen
On October 16, the country's largest LNG storage tanks and related equipment officially began operations at the Bashu Tank Station of the Municipal Gas Corporation. This new facility is expected to significantly alleviate the pressure on the city's winter gas supply, ensuring a more stable energy supply during the colder months.
The main LNG tank stands 30 meters tall, has a diameter of 20 meters, and weighs 2,000 tons. It features advanced technology, with 10 sub-tanks integrated into the main structure. The design allows for efficient gas storage in the sub-tanks while the main tank provides essential safety protection and control functions.
Constructed using high-quality stainless steel, the storage tank has a capacity of 2,500 cubic meters. Once the liquefied natural gas is gasified, it can produce up to 1.5 million cubic meters of natural gas, greatly enhancing the city's energy reserves.
Shenyang City currently faces a winter gas deficit of 200,000 cubic meters. To address this challenge, the City Gas Corporation invested 31 million yuan and started construction of the LNG storage facility on April 20 this year. The LNG used in the city is transported from Xinjiang, highlighting the importance of this new infrastructure in improving local energy security and reducing reliance on long-distance supply chains.
