Air Flow Control Technology of Air Cooling Heat Pump Unit

In a water pump pipeline system, when the pump suddenly stops, the check valve at the outlet closes rapidly, causing a sudden decrease in the flow velocity within the pipe downstream of the valve. This results in a backflow and generates an impact pressure wave that can propagate quickly through the pipeline. The pressure at the valve’s outlet may rise several times the normal operating pressure, creating a phenomenon known as water hammer. If not controlled, this can lead to damage or rupture of the valve or pipe, potentially causing serious accidents. To prevent such incidents, modern systems use valves with delayed closing mechanisms, such as two-stage butterfly valves, hydraulic control valves with a secondary flap, or slow-closing check valves. These devices delay the closure of the valve, allowing some water to flow back through the pump and its rotor components, thereby reducing the pressure. However, this prolonged backflow can still cause significant stress on the pump Impeller and rotor parts, leading to long-term damage over time. To address these issues, an automatic pressure relief valve has been designed and installed in a bypass pipe. This valve directs the backflow toward the pump inlet during pressure relief, preventing the water from passing through the pump rotor. As a result, the pressure is relieved without causing reverse rotation of the pump components. This innovative design effectively eliminates the risk of water hammer and avoids the negative effects associated with traditional two-stage shut-off valves. The valve consists of a body, a hydraulic chamber, and various connecting components such as a hydraulic rod, upper and lower valve plates, and threaded ends. A sealing seat is placed near the inlets and outlets, and the upper and lower valve plates are connected to the hydraulic rod via welding or nuts. The hydraulic chamber is divided into upper and lower sections by a piston, which is sealed with O-rings to prevent fluid mixing. Hydraulic lines connect the chamber to the rest of the system, and additional components like filters, micro-check valves, and regulating valves help control the flow and timing of the pressure relief process. During normal operation, the pressure in the lower chamber of the hydraulic system is higher than in the upper chamber, pushing the piston upward and opening the valve. When a power failure occurs, the pressure difference causes the piston to move downward, closing the valve and redirecting the backflow to the inlet. This ensures that the pump and its components are protected from excessive pressure and mechanical stress. The valve has been successfully applied in various systems, including municipal water supply, metallurgical cooling circuits, and petrochemical cooling networks. With adjustable closing times ranging from 15 seconds to 348 seconds, it offers flexibility for complex piping configurations. The design proves effective in eliminating water hammer and solving the issue of long-term backflow-induced damage. This new type of pressure relief valve demonstrates strong practical value and represents a significant advancement in pipeline protection technology.
