Here's a report from John Tulipano: At approximately 6:20 AM on June 15, 2019, the West Chicago Fire Protection District (FPD) was dispatched to a house fire located at 31W311 Prairie in the Village of Wayne. As units were en route, they received a call from DuComm indicating that a Wayne Police Officer had discovered the fire, with heavy smoke and visible flames reported. The area is not equipped with fire hydrants, so a water tender operation was immediately set up on Smith Road, just north of the affected building. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes. This incident highlights the challenges faced by emergency responders in rural areas where resources are limited. Despite these difficulties, the response was swift and effective, showing the dedication of local firefighters and police in protecting the community.
